RE: Refrigerator operation while driving

I believe most fridges are either electric or propane and when driving function on propane. Most have an auto mode you can use and it will switch automatically from electricity (shore power) when unplug and drive away. One trick I've learned to clear the lines of air so that the auto switch works every time is.... I light my stove in the trailer before I leave and draw all the air out and the propane through the lines. You only need to let them burn for a few seconds. Then the auto switch will always work for you when switching to propane.

Price Discount

18 Months ago it was pretty commonly accepted on this forum that you should expect a 25% discount off the MSRP of a new TH. With the economy in the condition it is and other things going on, what kind of discount should one expect today? Are the dealers being more aggresive than 25% today? 30%? 35%?

RE: Quad for teen daughter ?

Based on what you've said... and her age and size... the best ATV for her is the 400ex or equivalent... for sand or trail. It is the best all around machine for her... and will give her many many years of riding enjoyment. It's not too powerful like the 450 class machines... but yet is much more capable in the sand than the 250 class machines. It will lug on the trails if that's where you ride as well. My 14 yr old daughter has been riding a 400ex for two years... mostly in the sand. I don't think you will ever regret going with the 400ex. IMO the perfect bike for your situation. Good luck!!

RV industry needs to be redifined

There have been several (maybe many) on this forum over the years who have spoken openly and honestly about the WW situation and how if they didn't address their quality and customer service issues, it would ultimately doom the company. Yes, there were some who seemed happy to see WW suffer and go out of business. I'm not one of them. However, the business facts and writing were all over the proverbial wall. Many WW owners spurned and tried to hush those who spoke the truth about this issue over the last several months. This is not just a WW problem. The RV industry for the most part builds shoddy stuff and then doesn't support it very well after the fact. We as customers need to demnad more. We should form an RV user association with some teeth to provide feedback that will only be ignored at the peril of the RV manufacturers. Other industries have proven over and over again that quality can be designed in to the product at lower and lower costs. New materials and lean manufacturing processes will work. The RV manufacturers who figure this out will eventually be king in this industry -- IF they will listen and involve the customer voice in the process of redefining who they are.

RE: Auxiliary Fuel Tank (Truck)

Transfer Flow... gets it out of the bed and under the truck. It is a bit higher priced... but seems worth it. Safe and effective!!

RE: Timbrens or Air Bags

Happy with TIMBRENS. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/mtadma/New%20Fifth%20Wheel-WolfPack%20396wp/IMG_0100.jpg Wow Leo... that is a great looking trailer. Thanks everyone for the great input. I was leaning towards timbrens and now that is what i've decided to do. Less cost.... and much easier to install and maintain.... and they do the job! Thanks again!!

RE: Yellowstone / St. Anthony dunes ... anyone going ???

One thought for you to think about. We go to St Anthony two or three times a year. On one of those trips we usually spend time in Yellowstone too. We love it there. If we go to Yellowstone on the same trip as St Anthony, we just drive up into the park for the day and spend all day there. It's 1.5 hr drive from St Anthony into West Yellowstone. Easy to get up and back even if you went into the park for a couple of days. This way you can do both and not have the problem of the above metioned issue of having to deal with the quads in the trailer inside Yellowstone. Now, if you wanted to spend more than one or two days in Yellowstone, then this wouldn't be the best idea probably. But there are camp areas close to the park where you can unload your ATVs adn leave them during the day and not have them in our way while living in the trailer. Good luck!

RE: Would you buy a new Ragen ........

Ragen's are great trailers... better quality than most. My fist TH was a Ragen. Ended up not liking the floorplan. I talked with a local Ragen dealer in my area over the weekend. He tried to convince me that only a couple of the Ragen and WW plants had been closed. Educate yourself about the warranty issue with buying a new Ragen right now. They are great trailers though. Good Luck!

RE: Headed to Moab & need ATV info

ATVs are not street legal in Utah. However, there are places you are allowed to ride them on city streets. Most notably in the small communities that border the Piautte Trail system. You can ride down off the trail into the city (on designated streets -- get the Piautte Trail map and it will identify which streets can be used) for gas, food, and hotel accomodations. I'm not familiar with the specifics of the Moab regulations, but I have friends who have said that you canNOT ride on the city streets. You will want to make accomodations at camp areas adn parks where you can ride out of camp... or you will need to trailer to the trail head. Good Luck. Moab is a gorgeous place to visit and ride.

RE: 2008 K-Z Sportster 33P fifth wheel

I agree on the Onan 5.5. I question wether you will be happy in the short or long run trying to pull that trailer with the gas truck you referred to. If you can, you will want to get a diesel. Trade that gasser for a Duramax and you will be much happier if you can. Good luck!

RE: RZR Owners Speak Up!

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. The RZR-S does indeed look very nice. Very glad to know so many of you love yours and think my wife would also. I think it might be the only way to get her back out on the dunes to have some fun.... short of a full size sand rail. I don't want to get something that big and expensive. Thanks again! Keep the thoughts and suggestions coming.... :)

Timbrens or Air Bags

Anyone have experience with Timbrens and/or Air Bags for pulling a fifth wheel?. Pros and cons of each as compared to each other??

RE: Extension Cord-- yes or no?

I've been doing exactly that for many years and it works just great. No problems!

RE: Tire recommendations for tow vehicle...updated!!

I have almost exactly the same weight trailer and truck you do. I run Michellin LTX M/S E rated tires. They are great. BFG All Terrain has an E rated tire that is a great tire as well... probably better looking than the Michellin... Good Luck!

RZR Owners Speak Up!

I'm considering buying a RZR. I bought the KFX700 for my wife becuase it is automatic. She is a fully recreation rider -- not aggresive at all. She fell off two times last time we went to the dunes and lost confidence. But she still loves to go and wants to participate with the family. I would appreciate any thoughts about the RZR and your experience(s). Questions I have about the RZR... 1) Can I get a RZR and two full size sport quads in a 12' garage? 2) Are they stable in the dunes? 3) Can you really have fun in one -- on-going? 4) Do you put paddles on a RZR? Any other words of wisdom and experience would be very much appreciated. THANKS!

Compare Fuzion / Raptor / Cyclone

I want to upgrade from the trailer in my signature to a fifth wheel. I'm interested in real differences between Fuzion and Raptor and Cyclone trailers. What are your real experiences (Good and Bad -- Pros and Cons -- Likes and Dislikes) with these trailers?

RE: KAWASAKI KFX450R

Our local dealer sells Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and KTM. They are having a deal on the KFX so it peeked my curiosity. After sitting on it, the seat was hard and I felt "big" on it. Gonna check out a Raptor 700 next time I go there. IMO the Raptor 700 is the best all around sport quad right now. EFI is the only way to go. You will love the Raptor if you get one. Unless you are a SERIOUS racer, I would never consider one of the 450 class machines... they take way too much maintenance compared to the Raptor. With the change from the 660 to the 700 the Raptor is AWESOME.

RE: looking at toyhaulers

Heartland Cyclone Keystone Raptor They both have several floor plans with great space, garage for bikes and girls beds. Both are priced in the middle with good quality.

RE: earthquakes in California

Earthquake damage will be localized. Plenty of supplies will be available. In a major "event" or disaster supplies will be gone from the store shelves within HOURS. There will definitely NOT be plenty of supplies.

RE: Getting ATVs to the riding spot when at the campground?

1) Sweet talk the camp host into letting you ride to the trail head. 2) Only camp in places that have trail access from your camp spot. That's what we do. If we are going to ride, we only go to places that allow that or we don't go to that place. 3) I've seen people "push" their ATVs through the camp to the trail heaed. 4) What about a small trailer that you could pull with one of your ATVs. You might need to make two (or multiple) trips. Maybe a "contraption" that would allow you to lift the front wheels off the ground of the ATVs being pulled. I'm thinking you don't/won't have room for a full-size trailer inside your TH with your toys at the same time, so you need something that is functional but doesn't take a lot of room. Sorry... kind of a rambling answer.
